Pacific Electric Depot

Pacific Electric Depot

(Il Ghiotto Restaurant--128 E. Commonwealth Avenue)

While World War I was raging, the headlines in Fullerton read "All Aboard Tomorrow!" and "New Railroad Open!" The first "big red" Pacific Electric trolley cars came to town and linked Fullerton residents and their celebrated Valencia orange crops with Los Angeles, operating from February 1, 1918 until January 1948. The building has also served as a Greyhound bus depot and an American Express office. The depot's simple Mission Revival styling is contrasted by the decorative brackets supporting the protective overhangs and parapet.
